DON’T DISAPPOINT GOD

Anytime we disappoint God — anytime we betray His trust, we break His heart. How often have you broken His heart?

“The LORD was sorry that He had made humans on the earth, and He was heartbroken.” — Gen 6:6 (GodsWord)

God trusted man to have entrusted the earth to his care. He had confidence that man would walk in His plan and finally live with Him forever. God trusted man because He made man to be like Himself.

When man deviated from following God, God was disappointed in man and it grieved Him — His heart was broken.

Understand that anytime we disappoint God we break His heart.

Though man disappointed God and broke His heart, God still had confidence in man. He still moved on with His eternal plan for man. He still believed that man would embrace Him in Christ.

In Isaiah 63:8, we heard Him say, “They are My people, they will not deceive Me”. That was His confidence when He sent Christ — “…therefore He saved them.”

God has at all times demonstrated unqualified trust towards us. Even when we ignorantly sided with the enemy, He still trusted that we will return.

It is now up to us to make Him proud or to break His heart.

God trusts that you will believe Him. He believes that you will seek out His plan and follow it. He is not expecting you to disappoint Him. If you do, you would be breaking His heart.

Do not disappoint God. Do not break His heart.

Reflection

1. In what areas am I disappointing my heavenly Father?

2. What would I do to make Him proud of me?

Prayer Charge

Heavenly Father, thank You for Your word today. Forgive me for disappointing You in the past. Enlighten my eyes so that I may understand your ways and follow them. Give me the strength to live up to Your expectations. Thank You for the answer. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
